At-Large Councilmember Elissa Silverman has been an independent progressive voice on the D.C. Council since 2014, and she is running for re-election in the November general election.
In her first term, Elissa has prioritized making DC a place of opportunity for all. Making sure that the District remains affordable, especially for longtime residents and growing families, has been a major focus of her legislative agenda. She co-authored a groundbreaking family leave law, which gives DC workers the time necessary to take care of themselves and their family members during critical life events without fear of financial repercussions. She led the effort to raise wages for tipped workers and strongly opposed the repeal of Initiative 77. Because Elissa does not accept contributions from corporations or political action committees, she is not in anyone’s pocket -- that is why we trust her to be a voice for the public interest.
We hope you will join us for this conversation with Elissa. It’s a great opportunity to discuss important issues with your neighbors and to learn what is at stake in this election.
