I am proud to receive the endorsement of the Fraternal Order of Police D.C. Police Union. The union represents more than 3,600 officers who compose the Metropolitan Police Department. Its men and women put their lives on the line to protect our residents, as well as visitors to our city
As a night reporter at the Washington Post, I had an up-close view of our police department and the important work that they do, and I look forward to working with the union on the Council.
In issuing the endorsement, the Chairman of the D.C. Police Union, Delroy Burton, said: “Ms. Silverman has in-depth knowledge about the many issues facing the Metropolitan Police Department from her work as a reporter with the Washington Post, City Paper, and the challenges facing the District of Columbia from her tenure with the D.C. Fiscal Policy Institute. Burton added, "The D.C. Police Union believes that Ms. Silverman's tenacity and determination to push for budgetary and legislative changes she believes in will improve public safety and protect the citizens and visitors of the District of Columbia.”
I look forward to working with the men and women of the Metropolitan Police Department as a member of the D.C. Council, and I am honored to receive this endorsement.
